Daily Power Use in Abkhazia Drops to 5.5 Million kWh: The Impact of Anti-Mining Measures

Recent energy data from Abkhazia reveals a sharp drop in overall electricity consumption. While levels once reached 10 million kWh per day, they have fallen to about 5.5 million this year. Experts primarily attribute this change to mass confiscation of mining rigs and strict crackdowns on unlicensed farms.

According to the Ministry of Energy, dozens of illegal cryptocurrency operations have been discovered in just a few months. Over 130 large-scale setups were disconnected from the grid through systematic raids. Analysts believe these steps have reduced strain on the system and lowered the occurrence of blackouts. Moving forward, the government plans further tariff restrictions to prevent any resurgence of unauthorized mining.

Residents already notice more stable electricity supply during evening hours. Still, not everyone supports such tough policies: business owners and some private individuals argue that restrictions hinder technological innovation. Nevertheless, officials insist that cutting daily consumption by half signals a successful strategy to combat energy overloads.
