1 GW by 2026: Riot Aims for Massive Corsicana Facility Expansion
Riot Platforms has unveiled plans to achieve 1 GW of capacity at its Corsicana site in Texas by 2026. The official statement indicates that such a move will meet increasing high-performance data center demands and enhance Bitcoin mining output. Experts say Corsicana boasts robust energy resources and premium-grid connections required for this ambitious scale.
In the early months of 2025, Riot invested $25 mln in infrastructure enhancements, including advanced cooling systems and automated management platforms. Company reports suggest these upgrades could boost overall efficiency by 15–20%. Moreover, the firm is considering long-term deals with renewable energy suppliers to reduce its carbon footprint.
Local authorities welcome the initiative, anticipating up to 300 new jobs during the construction and commissioning stages. Riot representatives emphasize that Corsicana will become one of the region’s largest facilities of its kind. By 2026, the firm’s hash rate could increase by 1.5 times, significantly bolstering Riot’s standing in the global crypto mining sector.
