$2.5B raised through STRC — Strategy’s biggest crypto move yet
Bitcoin giant Strategy has made headlines after completing the largest initial public offering in the US this year. The company sold 28 million STRC shares at $90 each, raising $2.5 billion — far exceeding Circle’s $1 billion IPO. These funds were used to acquire 21,021 BTC at an average price of $117,256.
With this purchase, Strategy now holds 628,791 BTC — the most among publicly traded companies.
STRC to debut on Nasdaq, targeting income-focused investors
STRC shares will begin trading on Nasdaq Wednesday. These perpetual preferred shares are the first of their kind in the US crypto space, offering board-adjusted monthly dividends to investors seeking regular income.
STRC is Strategy’s fourth preferred equity product used to fund Bitcoin acquisitions. Previous offerings include STRK (convertible with an 8% fixed dividend), STRF (non-convertible with a 10% cumulative yield), and STRD (paying a 10% non-cumulative dividend).
MSTR holds steady before Thursday’s earnings
Following the announcement, Strategy’s stock (MSTR) closed Tuesday down 2.26%, but saw a modest 0.52% gain after-hours, reaching $396.7, according to Google Finance. MSTR is now up 31.55% year-to-date, compared to its explosive 358.55% rally in 2024.
Investors are now watching closely for Strategy’s Q2 earnings report, due Thursday, which will reveal how its capital moves and BTC purchases impacted its financial position.
