Strategy and Japanese Firms Expand Bitcoin Holdings Above $87K

Strategy added 6,556 BTC to its treasury, while Metaplanet and ANAP Holdings in Japan also acquired more BTC as prices topped $87,000. These moves signal growing institutional confidence amid equity market turmoil.

Strategy Now Holds Over 538,000 BTC

Strategy (MSTR), the largest corporate Bitcoin holder, acquired 6,556 BTC for $555.8 million, according to a regulatory filing. The purchase was funded through the company’s ATM stock offerings, generating $547.7 million from Class A shares and $7.8 million from preferred shares.

This brings Strategy’s total holdings to 538,200 BTC, with an average purchase price of $67,766 per coin. CEO Michael Saylor continues to emphasize disciplined treasury management. As of this writing, MSTR shares are up 2.77% pre-market as BTC trades at $87,300.

Japanese Firms Metaplanet and ANAP Join the Accumulation Trend

Japanese investment firm Metaplanet announced the purchase of 330 BTC, bringing its total to 4,855 BTC, worth over $420 million. This is its third BTC acquisition this month. Earlier in April, Metaplanet became the tenth-largest publicly listed Bitcoin holder.

Fashion company ANAP Holdings also revealed a recent Bitcoin purchase. The firm acquired 16.6591 BTC, worth around ¥200 million ($1.4 million). Its subsidiary, ANAP Lightning Capital, manages the assets and conducts quarterly market value assessments. The BTC yield for this quarter stands at 12.1%, with the previous quarter reaching 95%.

Bitcoin continues to outperform U.S. equities during periods of financial instability. While U.S. stock markets lost $5.4 trillion following a tariff announcement, BTC declined just 6% by comparison. Meanwhile, Metaplanet’s shares on the Tokyo Stock Exchange are up 0.9% since market open.
