Ninth Straight Week of Bitcoin Purchases
Strategy co-founder and executive chairman Michael Saylor hinted at the acquisition on June 8. This marks the ninth consecutive week of Bitcoin accumulation by the firm.
The purchase comes as Bitcoin once again nears its all-time high. CoinMarketCap data shows Bitcoin trading at $107,640 at press time, just 3.9% below May’s record high of nearly $112,000.
Stock Offering Fuels Bitcoin Buying Spree
The acquisition follows Strategy’s recent $1 billion stock offering, which quadrupled its previous $250 million target. The firm plans to use proceeds for additional Bitcoin purchases and corporate operations.
The offering includes 11.76 million shares of Strategy’s 10.00% Series A Perpetual Stride Preferred Stock, priced at $85 per share. After underwriting and related expenses, Strategy expects to net around $979 million.
