Spar to Launch Crypto Payments Across 300 Swiss Stores

Spar, one of the world’s leading grocery chains, is rolling out cryptocurrency and stablecoin payments across all its stores in Switzerland. The initiative marks the first nationwide crypto payment integration in the country’s retail sector.
Partnership with Binance Pay and DFX.swiss
The company has partnered with Binance Pay and Swiss fintech firm DFX.swiss to allow customers to pay with over 100 cryptocurrencies and stablecoins. The service is already live in 100 locations and will expand to the remaining stores in the coming months. However, there is no confirmed timeline for full deployment.
Spar says this move could inspire other major retailers to explore similar payment solutions.
Benefits for Merchants and Customers
According to Spar Switzerland’s managing director André Scherrer, crypto payments can help merchants save up to two-thirds of card transaction fees. Payments will be gas-free and converted into Swiss francs via the DFX.swiss interface upon request.
Customers will simply scan a QR code through the Binance Pay App, select their preferred token, and have it automatically exchanged into Swiss francs at the current market rate.
Switzerland remains a crypto-friendly hub, with over 1,000 shops already accepting Bitcoin.
