Solo Bitcoin miner earns $371K block reward

A solo Bitcoin miner mined block 910,440 via Solo CK pool, earning $371,000. Experts say solo mining remains a lottery despite efficient ASICs.

A rare solo mining win

A solo Bitcoin miner successfully mined block 910,440 on Sunday, securing a 3.137 BTC payout worth around $371,000 at the time. The miner used the Solo CK pool, a service for independent operators.

The block contained 4,913 transactions, yielding the standard 3.125 BTC reward plus about 0.012 BTC in fees, totaling $1,455.

Small players face long odds

Bitcoin’s hashrate is dominated by large-scale mining farms, making solo mining a statistical long shot. Still, with efficient ASIC hardware, even small miners occasionally secure block rewards.

This year, multiple solo miners have succeeded. One found a block in February, another earned $350,000 on July 4, and another gained $373,000 on July 27.

Samuel Li, CTO of mining hardware firm ASICKey, noted solo miners are not simply lucky, but benefit from efficient machines. However, the odds remain extremely low.

Li explained that one petahash of power translates to a 1 in 650,000 chance of solving a block every 10 minutes. He stressed that only operations controlling tens of PH/s have a measurable chance of consistent wins.

Rising difficulty pressures miners

CryptoQuant data shows Bitcoin network difficulty stands near an all-time high of 129 trillion. Rising competition, combined with halving events, has pushed professional miners to diversify into artificial intelligence and high-performance computing (HPC).

These moves highlight how the mining industry adapts, while solo mining remains a rare but headline-making achievement.
