Russian court shuts down illegal crypto mine in Krasnoyarsk

A court in Russia’s Krasnoyarsk region has suspended operations of an illegal crypto mining farm due to fire hazards and unlicensed land use.

Unauthorized Bitcoin mine caught in Nazarovo

A court in Nazarovo, located in the Krasnoyarsk region of Russia, has officially suspended operations at an illegal crypto mining farm set up in the Promyshlenny Uzel district.

According to the regional prosecutor’s office, the 30,000-square-meter site was listed as non-residential and owned by a private company, yet it hosted transformers, power generators and mobile data centers connected to the municipal power grid.

Fire risks and unlicensed access cited

The equipment was leased to another company for 4.6 million rubles per month. However, the tenant had no legal rights to the state-owned land and lacked the necessary permits to operate the hardware.

Prosecutors also identified violations of fire safety regulations. Although authorities ordered the owners to resolve the issues, they refused to comply. The court then intervened and ordered a suspension of mining activity until all legal and safety requirements are met.
