Polaris Technology Embarks on $100M Crypto Mining Data Center in Muskogee, Oklahoma
In a significant move for the cryptocurrency mining industry, Polaris Technology has announced plans to construct a $100 million, 200MW data center in Muskogee, Oklahoma. This strategic initiative, set on a 42-acre site at the John T. Griffin Industrial Park, marks a pivotal moment for both Polaris Technology and the local economy of Muskogee. Alex Zhang, CEO of Polaris Technologies, emphasized the project’s alignment with the company’s vision to propel mining operations within the crypto technology sphere, highlighting Muskogee’s optimal conditions for such a large-scale project due to its reliable power infrastructure, according to Datacenterdynamics.
Muskogee’s recent installation of a new 1,000MW electricity substation underscores the city’s readiness to support high-demand projects like Polaris Technology’s data center. Local officials, including Kimbra Scott, executive director at Port Muskogee, and Mayor Marlon Coleman, have expressed enthusiasm for the project, recognizing its potential to drive economic growth, attract tech companies, and generate high-tech, living wage jobs for the community.
Dubbed Project Bifrost, this development represents Polaris Technology’s first significant venture into the US market, with aspirations to expand the data center’s capacity to 400MW in the future. The project is expected to create 20 new jobs across various roles, including facilities support, systems administration, and data center technicians, further contributing to Muskogee’s economic and technological advancement.
Construction has already commenced, though completion timelines remain unspecified. This ambitious project not only demonstrates Polaris Technology’s commitment to expanding its footprint in the crypto mining industry but also positions Muskogee as a burgeoning hub for technological investment and innovation.
Oklahoma’s data center market, though relatively small, is set to receive a significant boost from Polaris Technology’s investment. This move could potentially catalyze further interest and development in the region’s data center and crypto mining sectors, highlighting the growing intersection between technology, economic development, and local community growth.
