PNC Bank to Offer Crypto Services via Coinbase Partnership

PNC Bank will allow clients to buy, sell and store crypto assets directly through their accounts, powered by Coinbase’s Crypto-as-a-Service platform. The move aligns with growing institutional demand and fresh US regulation.

PNC Bank Enters Crypto with Coinbase Integration

PNC Bank has announced a major step into crypto, revealing it will offer clients the ability to buy, sell, and hold digital assets in partnership with Coinbase.

The service will use Coinbase’s Crypto-as-a-Service platform, enabling seamless access to cryptocurrencies within PNC’s interface. In exchange, Coinbase will receive selected banking services from PNC.

Regulatory Clarity Fuels Institutional Adoption

Chairman and CEO William Demchak said the move will help deliver crypto financial tools faster, noting growing demand from users.

As of Q2 2025, PNC manages $421 billion in client assets, serving both retail and institutional clients across multiple sectors. The parent company, PNC Financial Services Group, saw its stock rise 0.59% following the announcement.

The deal follows the signing of the GENIUS Act by President Donald Trump, which brings federal oversight to stablecoins.

Other major banks have followed suit: JPMorgan and Citigroup revealed stablecoin plans on July 15, with Bank of America joining shortly after. These moves reflect growing confidence amid a bullish crypto market — Bitcoin, Ether, and XRP have surged significantly in recent weeks.

Congress is currently evaluating a broader crypto market structure bill, which could provide even more legal certainty for institutions entering Web3.
