The prospect of a data center in Kansas worries residents

A large portion of McLouth residents expresses concern about the possible opening of a cryptocurrency mining facility near the city.

The primary concerns relate to the potential harm and noise from the data center’s operation. One resident, Paul Nielsen, spoke about what the local community fears:

We’ve heard that they’re going to build a facility 1.5 miles north where they’re going to bring in their generators that will run on gas from a local storage facility.

In addition to the threat to energy supplies, residents are concerned about noise levels. However, engineer Roger Dalby, who is building the facility, disagrees with the negative sentiment:

For a small town like McLouth, this is a great opportunity to get new jobs. What’s more, there will be a source of renewable energy.

Despite all the assurances, residents are negative and want to leave things as they are. A town council meeting is on the agenda to discuss possible problems with the construction.

The high noise level coming from the date center has also caused many residents of Murphy, North Carolina, to move. Moreover, residents believe that the activities of the miners have damaged the grid and left the town without electricity for Christmas.
