Pakistan’s Energy Ministry Preps Special Tariff for Crypto Miners

Under government directives, Pakistan’s Ministry of Energy has begun crafting a unique rate structure to entice major mining operators. They anticipate a power rate lower than most Asian markets, reducing operational expenditures. This move aligns with the country’s ambition to secure a foothold in Bitcoin mining.

Sources indicate that up to 2 GW may be available in regions with surplus generation. The initial investment could reach $100 mln. Industry representatives believe it will boost foreign company interest and ensure a steady load for local power plants.

Officials stress that tariff framework development must address security and transparency concerns, ensuring compliance with FATF guidelines.
