Pakistan unveils Bitcoin reserve plan to Trump’s crypto team

Pakistan’s crypto minister met with Trump’s digital asset leadership at the White House to present the country’s Bitcoin reserve and mining infrastructure strategy.
White House meeting on digital asset partnership
Pakistan’s Minister of State for Crypto and Blockchain, Bilal Bin Saqib, met with Robert “Bo” Hines, Executive Director of the US President’s Council on Digital Assets, during his visit to the White House.
The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between Pakistan and the US in the digital asset sector. Topics included Bitcoin, potential partnerships, and the future of decentralized finance, 24NewsHD TV reported.
Strategic Bitcoin reserve as a key initiative
A key topic was Pakistan’s newly announced Strategic Bitcoin Reserve.
“My mission is to position Pakistan as a global leader in digital assets,” Saqib stated after the meeting.
He emphasized that Pakistan is building a complete framework for crypto mining, AI data centers, and utilizing surplus energy.
Digital infrastructure and regulatory development
Saqib also met with officials from the White House Counsel’s Office to discuss legal frameworks for blockchain governance.
Pakistan plans to allocate 2,000 megawatts of surplus electricity to Bitcoin mining and AI data zones, aiming to create jobs and expand national infrastructure.
On May 21, the Ministry of Finance approved the establishment of the Pakistan Digital Assets Authority (PDAA), which will regulate exchanges, custodians, wallets, tokenization platforms, stablecoins, and DeFi applications.
IMF raises concerns
On May 31, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) raised concerns over Pakistan’s mining and power allocation plans. The IMF requested clarification from Pakistan’s Finance Ministry regarding the legality of crypto mining amid ongoing energy shortages and fiscal challenges.
