Nvidia has committed $683M to UK-based Nscale, a spinoff from crypto miner Arkon Energy. The investment will expand AI data centers and boost Britain’s role in global AI infrastructure.

Nvidia doubles down on AI growth in the UK

Nvidia, the world’s leading chip designer, is investing $683 million in Nscale, a UK-based AI infrastructure firm spun off from crypto miner Arkon Energy in 2024.

According to Bloomberg, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang confirmed the partnership, highlighting that Nscale will help scale Britain’s artificial intelligence infrastructure. By 2026, the company expects to integrate 60,000 GPUs into its European data centers.

UK government backs AI infrastructure push

The deal aligns with the UK government’s strategic plan to strengthen national AI resilience. In January, Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced a 50-point roadmap to capture AI opportunities.

Nscale, alongside Vantage Data Centres and Kyndryl, has already pledged a combined $17 billion to boost Britain’s AI presence. Nscale CEO Josh Payne stressed that “sovereign AI infrastructure is essential for national resilience and long-term growth.”

Crypto and AI convergence

The partnership also highlights the growing overlap between AI and crypto mining. Arkon Energy, originally a Bitcoin mining firm, established Nscale to expand into AI-powered cloud services.

In July, Nvidia became the first tech company to surpass $4 trillion in market capitalization, overtaking the total value of all cryptocurrencies. Analysts attribute this surge to investor confidence in AI-driven innovation.
