Mining Stocks vs Bitcoin: Matrixport Points to a 572% Upside

Crypto services provider Matrixport just released a report pointing to an overlooked opportunity. According to the report, publicly listed Bitcoin mining companies could bring outsized gains to investors, according to coindesk. The reason? They’re trading at a 33% discount with a potential 52% upside.

Matrixport’s research highlights the underperformance of listed digital asset companies. This creates compelling investment possibilities in the Bitcoin mining sector. Companies like HIVE Digital, Bitfarms, and Iris Energy are specifically named in the report. If Bitcoin reaches a new all-time high of $70,000, the return on these mining stocks could be an astounding 572%.

Head of research, Markus Thielen, underlines the importance of diversification. Investors aiming for substantial growth could make a diversified portfolio of discounted Bitcoin mining stocks their ultimate 2024 bet. This approach, according to Thielen, carries less risk than investing in tokens. Tokens are noted for their considerable volatility.

Despite regulatory uncertainties from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, Matrixport maintains a positive outlook for Bitcoin. The SEC may delay approving a U.S.-listed spot BTC exchange-traded fund (ETF) until January 2024. Nonetheless, the report still sees this as an opportune moment for investment in the Bitcoin mining space.

In summary, Matrixport suggests that investing in Bitcoin mining companies could be a smart move for 2024. These stocks offer significant growth potential, far outweighing the projected 167% return if Bitcoin itself hits $70,000. With regulatory clouds still looming, diversification in mining stocks emerges as a prudent strategy for forward-looking investors.
