The advantage of a proprietary pool
Chairman and CEO Fred Thiel emphasized Mara’s fully integrated tech stack as a key industry differentiator.
“Operating our own pool means no external fees and full retention of block rewards,” Thiel stated.
He added that May’s production benefited from block reward luck, outperforming the network average by more than 10%.
Hashrate and difficulty reach record levels
Despite higher production, Bitcoin mining continues to get harder. On May 31, Bitcoin’s hashrate reached a new all-time high of 942 EH/s, according to Blockchain.com.
Additionally, on May 30, Bitcoin mining difficulty rose to over 126 trillion following another upward adjustment.
