Lukashenko Demands Urgent Crypto Regulation in Belarus

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko called for urgent cryptocurrency regulation, criticizing officials for delays and capital outflows. He urged creating clear rules and attracting investors to make Belarus a global crypto hub.
Belarus must accelerate crypto regulation
President Alexander Lukashenko stated that Belarus cannot afford to lag behind in the global digital economy. He stressed that the government’s role is to establish transparent rules and effective mechanisms for cryptocurrency control.
Lukashenko recalled that he ordered comprehensive crypto regulation back in 2023, but officials still haven’t provided coordinated proposals. This, he said, weakens Belarus’ financial security and reduces investor trust.
Capital outflow concerns and investor focus
The president criticized officials for allowing capital outflows, noting that in half of the cases, Belarusian investors’ funds sent abroad never return. He demanded explanations for these failures and immediate measures to fix them.
Lukashenko emphasized that Belarus must not only close regulatory gaps but also aim to lead the crypto sector. He instructed officials to deliver concrete proposals for attracting foreign investors and transforming Belarus into a global crypto hub.
