Ljubljana has been ranked the most crypto-friendly city in the world. According to Multipolitan’s 2025 report, it outperformed major cities like Hong Kong, Zurich, and Singapore.

The city’s success is linked to progressive regulations, over 150 crypto ATMs, and widespread retail adoption. Unlike other cities where crypto is limited to trading, Ljubljana integrates digital assets into daily life.

Slovenia’s Crypto Ecosystem and Upcoming Tax Changes

Ljubljana hosts Blockchain Alliance Europe and platforms like Blocksquare, which recently tokenized $1 billion in U.S. real estate.

Hong Kong and Zurich tied for second place, while Singapore and Abu Dhabi completed the top five. Both benefit from favorable tax policies and crypto business incentives.

Meanwhile, Slovenia plans to introduce a 25% tax on personal crypto profits in 2026. Authorities estimate €25 million in annual revenue, but critics fear it could hinder innovation and drive crypto talent abroad.
