Kazakhstan to Launch CryptoCity for Cryptocurrency Payments

Kazakhstan will create CryptoCity, where cryptocurrencies can be used for payments, services, and investments. The zone aims to drive digital transformation and attract global developers and investors.

Kazakhstan announces pilot crypto payment zone

Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has announced plans to launch a dedicated CryptoCity zone. The area will allow cryptocurrencies to be used for purchasing goods, paying for services, and making investments.

Speaking at the Astana International Forum, Tokayev emphasized that CryptoCity is part of Kazakhstan’s broader digital transformation strategy. The country aims to become a major IT and AI hub within Eurasia.

CryptoCity likely to be built in Alatau

Minister of Digital Development Zhaslan Madiev revealed that the CryptoCity zone may be located within the new city of Alatau. The government, in collaboration with regulators, is currently evaluating the best location for the project.

Within CryptoCity, residents and businesses will be able to use cryptocurrencies to pay for dining, real estate transactions, and investments. The zone is designed to integrate digital assets directly into everyday financial activities.

Economic growth and foreign investment opportunities

According to Madiev, CryptoCity is expected to attract foreign developers, programmers, and investors to Kazakhstan. This influx of talent and capital will help create new jobs and further expand the country’s growing IT sector.

The launch of CryptoCity will strengthen Kazakhstan’s position as a digital innovation center in Eurasia. The country continues to actively incorporate emerging technologies into its economy and financial system.
