Hut 8 Transfers 6,400 ASIC Miners to Texas, Boosting Installed Hashrate to 3.2 EH/s

Hut 8 Mining Corp., a North American leader in digital asset mining, has a new plan. It is relocating about 6,400 ASIC miners from its North Bay site to Texas.

CEO Jaime Leverton announced the relocation will increase their operating capacity. With the transfer, the company’s total installed hashrate will rise to 3.2 EH/s.

The hosting agreement dictates a 3-month initial term. It can extend with successive one-month terms unless terminated. Termination can occur through a 30-day notice by either party. The company expects the miners to start operations in Texas by late July.

Earlier, in March 2023, Hut 8 relocated an additional 988 miners from the North Bay site. These miners are now operational at the Medicine Hat facility.

These strategic moves reflect Hut 8’s consistent push for growth. With two operational sites in Southern Alberta, the firm aims to bridge traditional computing with new digital asset sectors. Aiding in this is their access to a renewable electrical grid.
