Hive Digital: Upgrading Mining Farms for AI/HPC Costs Up to $7 Million per MW

Hive Digital Technologies reported that the cost of upgrading existing mining farms to support AI/HPC workloads ranges from $5 to $7 million per megawatt. This amount includes expenses for infrastructure, cooling, and power supply.

In comparison, building new Bitcoin mining facilities is significantly cheaper. The cost difference is due to the higher reliability and performance requirements of AI/HPC.

Hive Digital plans to invest in upgrading its facilities to offer high-performance computing services. The company believes that this will allow diversifying revenue sources after the reduced profitability of Bitcoin mining.
