Five Dormant 2009 Bitcoin Addresses Activated: $15 Million Moved

Five long-dormant Bitcoin addresses created in January 2009 have been suddenly activated, each moving 50 BTC mined during the Satoshi era. The total amount of funds moved is approximately $15 million at the current exchange rate.

These addresses had remained inactive for over 15 years, dating back to the very beginning of Bitcoin’s existence. Each received a block reward of 50 BTC less than a month after Satoshi Nakamoto mined the genesis block on January 3, 2009.

The reasons behind the activation of these addresses are unknown, sparking interest and speculation within the community due to the rarity of such events.
