En+ Sues BitRiver for Over $13 Million Amid Legal Battle

Russian energy giant En+ is seeking over $13 million from crypto mining operator BitRiver over equipment supply and service disputes tied to data centers in Irkutsk.

Legal Dispute Escalates Between BitRiver and En+

BitRiver, one of Russia’s leading crypto mining infrastructure operators, is facing a major legal challenge from its former partner En+. According to court documents, En+ subsidiaries have filed claims totaling over 1.2 billion rubles (approximately $13 million).

In April, a court ordered BitRiver-linked firm “Fox” to pay 954.4 million rubles to En+ structure “Infrastructure of Siberia,” and imposed asset freezes, including cash and mining hardware.

Power Shutdown Deepens the Conflict

BitRiver CEO Igor Runets claims the root of the dispute is tied to the December 2024 power shutdown of mining sites in Irkutsk. He announced plans to file a counterclaim against En+ and said the Federal Antimonopoly Service has launched an investigation into alleged violations.

Frozen Accounts Raise Business Continuity Risks

Legal analysts note the asset seizure and equipment usage bans are rare and severe, indicating the court sees risk of bad faith. Nevertheless, BitRiver insists its financial condition is stable, and all data centers continue to operate normally.

Runets added that key subsidiaries like Fox and Stroyservice Plus remain operational despite the court orders and that BitRiver’s 2024 revenue exceeded 17 billion rubles.
