Bitcoin Mining Break-Even Power Price Reaches New Highs for Latest ASICs

As of September 3, 2024, the profitability of Bitcoin mining has hit a new level of complexity, with break-even power prices for the latest mining machines reaching $0.117 per kWh. According to a report from Hashlabs, only the newest generation of ASIC miners can remain profitable under current conditions. For older models like the S19 Pro (34.5 J/T), the break-even point is just $0.051/kWh.

The rising cost of electricity and increasing network difficulty have squeezed profit margins for miners, particularly those using older machines. Hashlabs’ analysis shows that miners must now carefully consider which equipment to use and where to host it, as even a slight increase in hosting costs can turn a once-profitable operation into a losing venture.
