BGIN unveils 4nm ASIC chip for Bitcoin mining

Digital asset technology company BGIN BLOCKCHAIN LIMITED announced the successful tape-out of its first proprietary 4-nanometer ASIC chip, designed specifically for Bitcoin mining.

The chip, named BT1, has reached first-pass silicon success, meaning the initial silicon produced after tape-out met design expectations. The development marks an important step in the company’s expansion into crypto mining infrastructure.

BGIN obtains the first working sample of the BT1 ASIC chip

BGIN confirmed that the BT1 Bitcoin mining chip successfully completed the tape-out stage.

Following this milestone, the chip has entered the next phase of development.

This includes:

  • system-level testing;
  • performance validation;
  • preparation for production integration.

The chip program entered the tape-out phase in October 2025.

The company said the BT1 milestone represents its seventh successful ASIC tape-out since 2022.

Why manufacturers are developing their own ASIC chips

The project reflects BGIN’s strategy to expand into the Bitcoin mining hardware market. Previously, the company focused largely on altcoin mining technologies.

However, BGIN now aims to shift toward infrastructure supporting the Bitcoin network.

Company chairman Oisin Li described Bitcoin as a core component of the global digital infrastructure.

The company therefore plans to develop proprietary ASIC chips designed to improve:

  • energy efficiency;
  • mining hardware performance;
  • scalability of mining infrastructure.

How new chips are reshaping the crypto mining hardware market

The introduction of new ASIC chips could intensify competition in the Bitcoin mining hardware industry.

Chip manufacturers are increasingly adopting advanced semiconductor processes to improve efficiency.

The move to 4nm technology may help increase computing performance while lowering power consumption.

Such developments could influence:

  • energy efficiency of mining hardware;
  • operating costs for Bitcoin miners;
  • overall network hashrate growth.

New chip designs may also accelerate hardware upgrades across large crypto mining data centers.

A new stage in the development of Bitcoin mining technology

Tape-out represents one of the most complex stages in semiconductor development. Following this milestone, BGIN will continue testing and optimizing the chip’s performance.

The company also confirmed it has begun development of next-generation ASIC architectures. Future chips are expected to deliver improved energy efficiency for cryptocurrency mining operations.

As competition intensifies, advanced semiconductor design will play a growing role in the evolution of the Bitcoin mining industry.
